Growth occurs when individuals confront problems, struggle to master them, and through that struggle develop new aspects of their skills, capacities, views about life.
Psychotherapy is often appropriate when problems begin to cause significant distress and interfere in your everyday life. This distress may be impacting your relationships with friends and family, your ability to work, or your physical health. You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure about how to feel better.
Individual therapy can help you resolve problematic beliefs, feelings, behaviors, negative physical responses, or relationship issues. Through therapy, you can learn to recognize and change unhealthy behaviors, reduce painful emotions, and improve your relationships. My goal is to help you grow and thrive as you create a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
Setting goals is an important part of psychotherapy. I find that therapy is more effective if we are able to identify clearly defined, future-oriented goals to work towards. Therefore, our work begins with clarifying the specific problems you are dissatisfied with and translating them into well-formed goals. Together, we will determine your individual goals for treatment, and develop a specific course of action.
